There were 4,078 people in Bonifay according
to the 2000 census in addition to 1,095 households and 669 families. Of the
1,097 households 27.5 percent of them had children under the age of 18.
Married couples living together made up 40.5 percent and 16.5 percent were
made up of women head of households. There were 36.4 percent that were
non-families and 18.9 percent had someone over 65 living there. The average
family size was 2.87 and the average household size was 2.21.

were 45 to 64, 38.9 percent who were 25 to 44, 12.6 percent were 18 to 24,
ad 15.3 percent were under age 18. The median age in the city was 35 years
and there were 172.8 males for every 100 females. For every 100 males over
age 18 there were 192 males.

Raymon Hudson, a previous NFL football player, attended Holmes County High
School in Bonifay. Chad Edelstein played football and baseball at Florida
A&M University and was the first person from Holmes County to do so. James
McFatter was an NCAA All-American for volleyball in the late 1950s.
